These are Why Sew's take on Xmittens! We kept all the things we love from the old school style - like the exposed stitch lines across the hand that mean every pair is unique, the cushy-soft feel of the fleece, and the fact they are manufactured in Pittsburgh, of course - but we added some structure for a more durable feel. A folded hem at the wrist and thumb opening keep fingers feeling secure and insulated, and a double-layer cuff keeps your wrist protected from the cold. Lauren (Why Sew owner) appreciates the calming feel of the snug, soft cuff in particular.
Xmittens are made in our Pittsburgh workshop from RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) fleece. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a strong, durable plastic, typically used for food and beverage containers, and recycled PET can be made into fabric like this! Some Xmittens are also made from deadstock (surplus or ready-to-discard) fabric to switch it up a little. Either way, we try to tread as lightly as we can upon the planet.
Xmittens are meant to hug your hands snugly, and their stretch gives some wiggle room for fit!
